My friends and I have embarked upon an ambitious project: we’re trying to explain the meaning of rap lyrics to as many songs as possible.  I think it’s pretty awesome: you can listen to songs as you read the lyrics and if you don’t understand a lyric, if you click on it you’ll get a pop-up explanation.  If you’ve ever wanted to get into rap but been deterred by the difficulty of accessing a seemingly inaccessible world of slang and references, this is the site for you.

Check it out at RapGenius.com.

  1. I like the idea but I think you made a mistake with the domain having it start off with the word rape. Especially because the word exegesis is not all that well-known to the general population.

Almost five years ago I started a website at pscrew.com which was meant to stand for PokerStars Crew but people constantly called it “p screw.” I tried to make the capitalization of PSCrew stick but it never really worked. Another one I can think of is the site thestarsexchange.com which was/is (not sure if it still runs) a W$/T$ PokerStars exchange. Most people read it as “The Star Sex Change” instead of “The Stars Exchange.”

Anyway, I recommend changing the domain and 301 redirecting it.

Au contraire, mon bonjour, I think I represent a lot of people when I say I wouldn’t want to visit this site if it WASN’T called Rape Xegesis.

I checked out the site, I thought it was pretty sweet. I was wondering if you could make a video for Deucescracked on how to take the LSAT. Is there anyway you would ever consider doing that?
